I'm trying to make a watery surface to ripple, but not by rain, by an object being dropped into it, sadly, this tut doesn't seem to work for me, I can't put my objects into the 'object' or 'particles' lines.

This little trick is just that, it is a trick. It is not a fluid or dynamic simulation by any means.
For what you are trying to accomplish you will need to do in dynamics or use a third party plugin like Realflow or DPIT Fx.

I'm sorry i'm kind of a newbie in this area, but i followed the tutorial and everything went okay except the ripples, for some reason they just don't appear anywhere, i'm kind of stuck, i checked all the settings and everything is fine but it seems there's no rendering for my ripples i wonder why??

Sorry for the delay responding to you.
I went back and followed my directions and was able to get the ripple effect.
Just trying to figure out what may be wrong here, in your viewport, when you hit play do you see the rain drops coming down?
